What's the difference between percentage change and percentage points?
Percentage change describes a relative change (e.g. a price rising from £50 to £60 is a 20% increase). Percentage points describe an absolute difference between two percentages (e.g. an interest rate moving from 5% to 7% is a 2 percentage point rise, not a 40% one) — mixing the two up is one of the most common statistics mistakes.
Does the standard deviation calculator use population or sample formulas?
It's worth checking which your specific task requires — population standard deviation (dividing by n) is used when your data is the entire group you care about, while sample standard deviation (dividing by n−1) is used when your data is a sample used to estimate a wider population.
